PHYTOVAC is a New, Efficient, Green, Sustainable, and Safe heat treatment for sanitizing wood fiber based materials. The safe alternative to methyl bromide,
sulfuryl fluoride, phosphine, and other poisonous fumigants currently used to treat products moving through international supply chains.
The only economical, non- chemical alternative to the fumigation of logs, wood chips, timbers, and other wood based products for export and import.
The process is adaptable to treating large volumes continuously or in bulk batches, such as multiple, 40 foot freight containers filled with logs or continuously, treating wood chips being loaded into ships.
The PHYTOVAC process is accepted by the United States Department of Agriculture, Animal Plant Health and Inspection Service, in the Treatment Manual, and the International Plant Protection Congress, in ISPM 15, as a pre-shipment and quarantine treatment for many products moving internationally.
PHYTOVAC Chambers are installed, turn-key, easy to use, and performance is warrenteed. The equipment is available to operate using many different energy sources including natural gas, propane, electric and biofuels.
PHYTOVAC safely treats wood products without the use of poisonous fumigants. The PHYTOVAC process is the only practical alternative to the fumigation of heavy skids and timbers.
Treat wood pallets in less than 50 minutes using 33% less energy than ovens. You can quickly heat treat piled pallet parts before assembly. The process steam cleans used wood pallets during heat treatment. The chambers takes up less than half the space of an oven of the same productivity.
Logs can be sanitized for international export or import in less than 10 hours without affecting wood quality, in 40 foot container quantities. They can be treated to the T314 HT schedule in the UDSA Treatment Manual, which is accepted by US trading partners.
Testing has shown that firewood and bamboo stakes can be heat treated rapidly and wood chips can be treated continuously.
For small volumes, portable units are available to move to multiple locations as a treating service.
The patented process is based in part, on the physics of vacuum and saturated steam. This is ideally suited for efficiently heat treating materials without drying changing the material moisture content or affecting product quality.
One cubic meter of saturated steam contains 100 times more energy than the same volume of hot air at the same temperature.
The condensation phase of the process rapidly transfers the heat to product surfaces.
The vacuum creates pressure gradients that drive the heat quickly into the product.
PHYTOVAC has created unique treatment schedules, customized to efficiently treat many different products. These customized processes regulate, steam volume, chamber temperatures, and pressures. The equipment is fully automatic, it includes many safety features such as emergency shut down, should problems be detected during treatment and process lock out if all pre safety checks are not confirmed.
The stainless steel chambers will last over 25 years. The automatic controls provide easy to understand conditions in the chamber, to operators in real time. All system information is stored for easy access. All equipment is fully warranted. Quotations include installation. Service and parts are available locally. Delivery into the eastern US is within 3 to 4 months of an order.
